I have literally been waiting so long to see a post like this. Since exam month is here, I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I’ve been thinking about the countless times I’ve felt dumb and stupid because I wasn’t getting grades as good as everyone else; how many times I’ve felt unintelligent because I didn’t get a A in Maths or a high percentage in Chemistry.

But this year is different because I realise; I am not dumb. I will not let some fucking letters on an insignificant piece of paper tell me whether I am smart or not. I don’t need letters to tell me if I’m intelligent; and frankly speaking, neither do you.

To everyone that has ever let a class or grade or test make them feel dumb; do not let your school and your control your feelings towards your intelligence. Do not let some grades determine whether or not you a smart. What is smart, anyway? There isn’t one type of smart. You might not be good at Physics, but that doesn’t mean you’re not great at English. You might not be great at English, but that doesn’t mean you’re not fantastic at Art. You might not be good at Art, but hey, maybe you have fantastic people skills. You are good at something and you are smart. You are intelligent. Do not let a fucking grade tell you otherwise; ever.

Try hard in school, and if you’re biggest amount of effort doesn’t get your straight A’s; that is okay. Because you tried your hardest. And one day you’re going to find something you are so good at, and you’re going to do it everyday and it’s going to be your job. In the real world no one gives a shit about the grades you got when you were a teenager; they care about how you are as a person.

And listen, just because someone gets straight A’s- that doesn’t mean that they can do half the shit you can do.
